DOT Inspections
Inspections are a fixed part of running commercial equipment, and they go more smoothly when they are planned rather than remembered late. Talk to JH about arranging an inspection and about what our staff can carry out for the equipment you run.

Confirming what JH can inspect
Inspection work depends on the equipment and on what the inspection is for, so the first step is a conversation. Tell our staff what the unit is and what you need, and they will confirm what JH can carry out and what would have to go elsewhere.
This page does not list qualifications or make claims about inspection authority, because those are facts to hear from our staff rather than from a website.
Arranging the visit
Bring the unit details and your timing when you call. Inspections are easier to place in the schedule when there is some notice, and easier still when you can say which days the unit is genuinely free.
If the equipment has known defects, say so up front. An inspection that turns into a repair conversation is normal, and knowing in advance helps our staff plan the time.
- Unit details and what the inspection is for.
- Realistic dates the equipment can be released.
- Any defects you already know about.
- Whether repairs should be discussed at the same time.
Where responsibility sits
An inspection is a point-in-time assessment. Keeping equipment compliant between inspections remains the operator’s responsibility, and this site makes no promise about ongoing compliance. If a defect is found, our staff will explain it and you decide how to proceed.
Common questions
What inspections can JH carry out?
Ask our staff about your specific equipment and requirement. This page does not publish a capability list, so that you get an answer that applies to your unit.
How much notice do you need?
Call as early as you can and our staff will tell you what is realistic. Inspections fit into the schedule more easily with notice.
What happens if a defect is found?
It is explained to you, and you decide what to do about it. Any repair work is a separate decision you approve.
Does an inspection keep my equipment compliant?
An inspection assesses the equipment at a point in time. Ongoing compliance stays the operator’s responsibility.
