Towing

A unit that will not drive is costing you money where it stands. Call JH about a tow, tell our staff where the equipment is and what it is, and they will tell you what can be arranged to move it. The shop is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so you can call whenever it happens.

Calling about a tow

The first call does most of the work. Where the equipment is, what it is, whether it is loaded, and whether a trailer is still coupled all decide what it takes to move it. Our staff will ask those questions, then confirm what can be arranged and roughly what to expect before anyone sets out.

Be as precise about the location as you can. A road name and direction of travel, the nearest exit or cross street, or a location pin from the driver’s phone saves time that would otherwise be spent searching.

Make it safe first

If the equipment has stopped somewhere dangerous — in a live lane, on a blind bend, near a rail crossing — deal with that before anything else, and call 911 if it is putting anyone at risk. A tow can wait for that. Nobody should be standing on the traffic side of a truck waiting for one.

  • Hazard lights on, and warning triangles out where it is safe to place them.
  • Everyone out of the vehicle and away from the traffic side.
  • Call 911 first if the vehicle is blocking traffic or creating a hazard.

Bringing it to the shop

If you want the unit brought to JH for repair, say so when you call. The repair conversation can start while the tow is being arranged, and our staff can tell you what they will want to look at first once it arrives.

Distance, timing, and charges are confirmed by our staff when you call. This page does not publish a service radius or rates, because both depend on the job.

Common questions

  • What should I do first if a truck breaks down on the road?

Make the scene safe: hazard lights on, warning triangles out, everyone away from traffic. Call 911 if the vehicle is creating a danger. Then call JH with the location.

  • Can you tow a loaded truck or one with a trailer still coupled?

Tell our staff exactly what the unit is and what it is carrying. They will confirm what can be moved and how before anyone sets out.

  • How far will you tow, and what does it cost?

Distance, timing, and cost are confirmed by our staff when you call. This site does not publish a service radius or rates.

  • Can the unit come straight to your shop for repair?

Say so when you call, and our staff can start the repair conversation while the tow is being arranged.
